King Alfonso has telegraphed to King George expressing his persona] gratitude and the thanks of the navy and army and the whole Spanish nation to the British Air Force of the East for its splendid devotion in rescuing the Spanish airman Estevez. King Alfonso asked permission to give the British airmen a Spanish decoration. King George replied cordially acceding to the request. Estevez came down when flying over Egypt. He abandoned his machine in the desert, and began to walk to the nearest European station. The machine was found by R.A.F. airmen, who oontinued their search until they found Estevez and his mechanic.
