FIJIAN SOCCER TOUR

MORE INFORMATION WANTED CALIBRE OF THE TEAM. The question of a North Island tour hy a Fijian Soccer, team was mentioned at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association yesterday, at which the Hon. C. E. Statham (speaker) presided. Mr A. Menzies (Auckland) explained that the matter was introduced to the association by a representative of tho Y.M.C.A., and it was stated that their standard was higher than that of the Chinese team. The tour would cost about <£6oo, and it was suggested that the team should visit Auckland, Wellington, Wanganui, and Palmerston North. If th©\ council did not wish to control the tour they asked that the Auckland Association he ollowed to take it over in Auckland province. Mr J. C. Young thought it would lower the standard of the game to have a touring team which could not extend our players. It was stated that the Navy team had visited the island and were given a good game. Mr Graves replied that the Navy team met a Wellington B team on Saturday, and a draw of 4—4 was the result. It was not a great game, and the Navy team could not stand up to a New Zealand team.

The matter was deferred for further information on the subject.
