SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION AT NORTHLAND Tlie autumn show of the Northland Cottage Garden and Beautifying Society was held in St. Anne's Hau on Saturday. There was a splendid display of chrysanthemums and dahlias, and there was algo a fine display of vegetables. The champion chrysanthemum was exhibited by Mr W. F. Jacobson, of Thorby street. Mr W. Platt obtained the highest aggregate of points, and won the president’s trophy outright. Turrell’s Orchestra was in attendance, and both in the afternoon and evening the show was well patronised. Apart from Mr W. F. Jacobson, who took the championship for chrysanthemums, the chief prize-winners in the chrysanthemum class were Mrs Nicholl (tw'o firsts) and T. Burkett (two seconds). Mr Jacobson took first prize in the six-bloom class, also a first for pansies. Mr Burkett and Mr W. Platt were first and second, respectively, for cut flowers, while for delphiniums Mr W. Platt took first and second prize, as well as a first for a vase of flowers. Noeline Platt was first with a decorated table, and Mrs Lewis first with a bowl of flowers. For aspidistras, Mr Newman took first prize, and Mrs T. L. Boyes second, and Mr W. Platt' was awarded the first and second prizes for asparagus, maidenhair fern, palm, and geranium. Mr L. Jones (1), and Mr H. J. Kearney (2) were the prizewinners in the flowering plant class. Prize-winners in the cactus dahlias section were Mrs Bernech (two firsts and second), and T. Burkett (a second). In dahlias, Mrs Bernech and T. Burkett took first prizes, and the last-named was also awarded & second. Mrs Nicoll and T. Burkett were first and second, respectively, in the roses section, Mrs Bernech and W. Plntt being the first- and second prizewinners for scabioni.

First prizes for vegetables were taken by Mrs W. R. Burns, Mrs Moi ris, Mrs Stevens (2), Mr B. F. Waters, L. Jones (4), I. Clark, Mrs Riley, Miss Arthur, Mrs Honsa, Mrs P. Clark, and Mr F. Gapes (2). Miss Crawford, with six firsts, was most successful in the domestic section, Miss Jones being next with four firsts. Other first prize-winners were Mrs Holmes and Mrs P. Clark 'The miscellaneous section saw Mrs H. Platt take four first prizes, Mrs Riley, Miss Crawford, Mrs Cooper, Mrs Stevens, Mrs Honsa, Mrs Holmes, and Mr Edwards, one each. The first prize-winners in th« juvenile section Louie Honsa, Lily Clark, Teresa von Heisenberg, Miss Newman, Molly Blakey, Cam King, Len Cameron, Gwen Clark, Roger Roser, Milton Thomas, Sybil Macindoe, M. Riley, Keith Macindoe, Stuart MacDonald, Frank Brown, and K. Thomas.
