“THE PONY EXPRESS”
COMING TO DE LUXE THEATRE.
Commencing on Friday at the De Luxe Theatre, “The Pony Express,” James Cruze’s epic of the screen will be shown. Made by the same man responsible for “The Covered Wagon,” the new feature thoroughly deserves all the glowing praise that the critics have given it. It is rightly described as a worthy successor to “The Covered Wagon,” and added another remarkable sucoess to his enviable list. The story is one of love and heroism in the days when the West first knew pioneers. It shows the adventures of bravo men who faced great perils in order to bring civilisation into the extensive country which, at the time, was peopled by only, wild Indians. Great battle scenes between the* whites and red men are depicted, and for these a large band of the Sioux tribe was engaged. Across 2000 miles *of unblazed track, through scorching sun and black of night, pony hoofs thunder. Eight days and nights of perilous riding and unmatched heroism. This picture is taken from thrilling pages of history -and is without any doubt the greatest of all thrilling romance spectacles. A wonderful cast of favourite players take part, including Betty Compsou, Ricardo Cortez, Ernest Torrence and Wallace Beery. Walter Woods wrote the screen play from an original story by himself and Henry James Foreman. A gigantic supporting programme has been arranged, including a musical programme of . great beauty. The box plans are now open at the Bristol Piano Co., Aitken’s Book Arcade, or ring theatre, 'phone 23-080. A matinee will be field on Saturday next at 2.30.
