“THE NEW ALADDIN”
GRAND OPERA HOUSE TO-MOR-
ROW.
The J. C. Williamson’s 1926 pantomime, whioh opens an eight nights’ season at the Grand Opera House tomorrow, Wednesday, is said to be the most beau t in, l production st aged in Wellington. The dressing and scenery are superb, and the music right through is exquisite, including manv of the latest hits, which will be whistled and sung all over Wellington shortly. The book is by Ernest Rolls, and was produced bv him at the Palladium Theatre, London, and. His Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne. He is the author and produoer of many successful pantomimes in England. The music is by Hermann and Max Darewski, of worldwide renutation.
The. J. C. Williamson management’s decision to stage a pantomime in New Zealand will undoubtedly be appreciated by the thousands of pantomime lovers in this country. It was made possible largely because the produoer of last year’s pantomime in London was in Melbourne, and several of the artists associated with that production were also in Australia on the Tivoli circuit. The result is more than equal to anything seen jn other years. The pantomime includes, apart from the brilliant principals assembled, a lot of fascinating numbers, amongst which are included the Twelve Wonderful Williamson Girla in a marvellous gymnastic act, which haa been arranged by Wahne Shuska and supervised by Miss Minnie Everett; an amusing marionette act, and several other novel numbers, which will he appreciated by both young and old. The dame, to whom all pantomime followers look for much of the fun, ia widow Twankey, played by Mr Bruce Green, who by the way appears in the latest model gowns in some of the scenes, causing quite a sensation by introducing this most novel way of “dressing” the part of the “dame.” The box plan is now on view at the Bristol, where scats may he reserved.
