CAUGHT IN THE ACT

PREPARING TO STEAL EGGS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 19. Leslie Alfred Eastwick, aged 22 years, was preparing to remove twentyfive dozen eggs from the Canterbury Co-operative Poultry Producers’ premises, Tuam street, yesterday morning when he was caught. Eastwick was charged in the Police Court this morning .with breaking and entering and theft of eggs valued at £3 ss. Constable Patterson, who arrested the accused, said that Eastwick told him that he was taking the eggs for his landlady, who had six children. The accused had a key to open a door to the store where the eggs were kept. Eastwick pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for Sentence. Bail was allowed.
