AT HIS MAJESTY’S
NEW REVUE—TWO NKW ACTS An excellent and Very varied programme will be given at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night, the main constituenco being a new revue by the Phil Smith Company and two new vaudeville acts. Of course, the remaining acts over from last week will give an entirely new programme. The title of the Phil Smith’s revue is “Wanted a Wife.” This is a show recently written by Mr Smith, and produced for the first time in Auckland some three months ago. It is said to contain a number of novelties that are quite new to revue productions, and the dressing and general mounting of the show has been carried out on most lavish lines. Messrs Phil Smith and Nat Hanley, the popular comedians of the combination, have a good deal more work to do than usual, and “Wanted a Wife” can be relied upon to provide the utmost in laughter. The vaudeville half will be enlarged, and its entertainment value much enhanced by the debut of two new acts, both of first importance. Franks and Newton, who are making their first appearance in New Zealand, are society dancers of a very high order. In fact, Miss Newton lias won many big Austialian championships for this class of dancing. Theirs should be a most interesting offering. Another first appearance is that of Little June Megan, a dainty English child performer, whose work is said to he not only original, blit decidedly clever. A new programme will be provided by the Rev. Frank Gorman, and in response to many requests, he will sing one of the old numbers that made him immensely popular when last in Wellington. Brennan and Newton, whose work on last week’s programme wan so successful, are *to present an entirely new act, which is said to be well up to the high standard set by these brilliant artists. Altogether, the new programme for His Majesty’s is one that should delight even the most fastidious.
