S.P.C.A. MEETING
The president, Mr F. fytqadowcroft, presided over the fortnightly meetinu; of the committee, which was well attended. A resolution was passed expressing appreciation of the valuable services of Mr A. Forrest, who resigned his seat on the committee owing to his ab- x scnce from Wellington' for the greater part of each year. It was reported that a public meeting was being called in Palmerston North on Thursday, April 22nd. for the purpose of forming a branch in that town, and it was decided that the president, inspector and the secretary should assist at that meeting. A number, of cases Vif alleged cruelty had been investigated since the previous meeting, and the steps taken J>q tiie inspector met with the approval of the committee. In one case at Lower Hutt it had been found fliat two men had cruelly ill-treated a horse, and it had been necessary to. issue a summons.
Subscriptions and donations amounting to £l6 Ids were received, and that sum included £5 from Mrs Jackson, £2 iTs each from Mr R. F. Carvosso, Wellington Hardware Association. £1 Is each from Mrs W,. Robinson. Air J. R. Salt, Watkins, Hull, Hunt and Wheeler, and an anonymous donor.
