RIOT IN PARIS
CIVIL SERVANTS FIGHT POLICE DISPUTE OVER SALARIES. Reuter’s Telegram. (Received April 15, 7.5 p.m.) PARIS, April 14. Rioting occurred in consequence of attempted demonstrations by civil servants, who are claiming sliding-scale salaries. A crowd of several hundred, mostly Communists, defied the prefectoria( prohibition, and tried to force the police barrier in order to raid the premises of an electrical undertaking. - Fighting ensued, and 13 policemen were injured. There were 300 arrests, hut only two of those arrested were detained.
