The association was struggling for revenue, and wished a ground in town. The council should give the association a good hearing, because the game did l less damage to the ground, and Rugby had a private ground. Councillor J. H. Thompson said the Rugby Union did not want the ground till sometime in May. Councillor Luckie: They are trying to outbid Soccer. Mr Prepdeville offered £2OO for the Basin Reserve. RUGBY’S OFFER. When asked, Councillor Thompson read a letter from the Wellington Rugby Union, asking if the Basin Reserve had been definitely allocated to one code. If not, could the union tender.
Councillor Luckie: There you are! Councillor Thompson: I am given to understand that the two codes will work together. Tlie matter will be considered by the committee, and a report made to the council.
