Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received April 15, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 14. Sir Guy Gaunt, M.P. (Con.), has resigned liis seat in the House of Commons. Questions concerning Sir Guy Gaunt’s absenco were recently asked in the House of Commons. Herr Kulz, Minister of the Interior in Germany, describes tlie colonial question as a . question of national honour, like ear guilt. He adds that the reparation problem is unsolvabio without damaging the creditor countries unless Germany obtains colonial territory, of which it must have full political control. Her motives were exclusively economic.
The trial was commenced at Maryborough (Q.) of Sydney Turner, who is charged With the murder of Mrs Loveday, whose body was found in his dental surgery. The police alleged that Turner first chloroformed Mrs Loveday, and then poured cyanide of potassium down her throat. Correspondence alleged to have passed between the accused and the woman disclosed that Turner at one time was second dental surgeon at the Vienna Court of tlie Emperor Franz Josef. De Valera, following on liis recent split with tho other Republican leaders, ia establishing a new political organisation. Tho main plank is to urge the abolition of tho oaths of allegiance to tho Crown in the Free State and Northern Parliaments, to enable Republicans to enter those assemblies. The “Daily News” Berlin correspondent says that Republican newspapers assert that the ex-Kaiser| is financing a now Monarchist movement aiming at his restoration.
