THEFT OF FUR COAT WOMAN SENTVTO GAOL. Police cases were dealt with before Mr E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning as follow: Bridget Ohlson, a hotel manageress, aged 28, and an Australian, appeared for sentence on charges of stealing at Christchurch on April 7th a fur coat valued at £4O, the property of Daisy Coleman, and a fur necklet, valued at £2O. belonging to Eunice Hendrickson. His Worship sentenced accused to three months’ imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be served concurrently. James Clarke, alias Swanson, a fireman, aged 43, with four previous convictions of drunkenness for a similar offence was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour. His Worship stipulated that Clarke bo placed on board a steamer providing he obtained a job. Charged with boing found drunk in rhnrgo of n horse and cart in Vivian street on Wednesday Inst, April 14th, Frank Henry Ellis/aged off. was convicted and fined £5, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment.
