PERSONAL AND GENERAL From Our Own Correspondent. MASTERTON, April 13. Mr I. "Wilson, founder and secretary of # the Wairarapa Automobile Association, has resigned, as he| is leaving Featherston to take up his residence in Wellington. The death occurred at Hastings yesterday of Mr Arthur Hoar, formerly of Mfasterton, at the age of 52 years. He leaves a widow and one sou, lo years of age. At the annual meeting of the Feather'fiton Miniature Rifle Club the following officers were elected Patron, Mr G. Vincent; president, Mr W. Johnson; vice-presidents, Dr Doctor, Dr Sharp, Alessrs J. of the Wairarapa Automobile •Association it was pointed out by Mr I. V. Wilson that a very suitable camping site existed on the main road near Featherston, at the first rise on the Wellington road, on the south side. The prgposed site was quite sheltered from prevailing and was further improved by a growth of beech trees. The Featherston Borough Council were about to lease the area, and action was needed at once. Air Wilson said it would be. a very short-sighted policy if the borough allowed the creation of camping sites away from, the town. Messrs F. C. Bunny and W. Benton were appointed to meet delegates from the Featherston Borough Council on Friday, to discuss the matter. At a meeting last night of the general committee of the MaSterton Collie Club the following officials were appointed in connection with the coming dog trials: — Marshal, Mr A. A. Cameron; timekeeper, Mr W. E. S Willoughby; flag steward, Air A. Scott; judge’s steward, Mr W. R., S. Willoughby; top yard stewards, Messrs W. G. Laing (convenor), E. Newhand, W. Mason, G. Beer, L. R. Wilton, W. Murray, \V. J. Tripe, M. Wilton, L. D. Cameron, O. Nation; bottom yard stewards, Mr'W. Aitken (convenor), and same stewards as top yard; clearing stewards, Messrs P, C. Taylor, G. 'Jihomjon and A. Meikle; ground committee, Messrs W. Aiken, G. Beer, W. G. Laing, A. Meikle, A. Scott and W. E. S. Willoughby. It was decided to invite Air G. Carmichael, of Dannevirke, to act as judge at the trials. At the annual meeting of the Greytown branch of the Farmers’ Union last night the following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr Hugh Alorison; vice-chair-man, Air N. Skeet; committee, Messrs L. At 8.30 o’clock last night a house in Sussex street, occupied by H. H. Liddle, was damaged by fire to the extent of about '£lso. Air T. Vangioni. who has resigned from the committee of the Alasterton Amateur Athletic Club, as he is leaving the district, was presented by the members with a gold-mounted pen and pencil. The Wairarapa Rugby Union will open tho season with a seven-aside tournament at Carterton on Saturday.
