THE GREAT ADVENTURE
RANDOLPH ROSE DEPARTS GOOD WISHES FROM AUSTRALIA. AUCKLAND, April 15. With representatives of sports bodies to see him off on the great' adventure, Randolph Rose, the Dominion’s great distance runner, boarded the Aorangi bound for England, accompanied by the famous hammer-throwing champion, J. \V. McHolrn, who travels in the appropriate capacity of guide, philosopher and friend to the Masterton farmer-athlete. The champion said his one regret was that lie could not appear before the Auckland public. “i think I’ve got a pretty fair chance of beating him,” he remarked when Nurmi was mentioned. “Anyhow, it won’t be for the want of trying. I intend to get as fit as possible.”
