STILL ANOTHER
LEVEL CROSSING SMASH LORRY DRIVER SEVERELY / INJURED. ' Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 28. At 4.45 yesterday afternoon a train collided with a motor-lorry at the Templeton railway crossing. An eye-witness of the accident stated that both the lorry and the train were travelling slowly. The driver of the lorry, E. Suckling, was thrown out of his seat by the impact, and he landed in front of the engine. There he was picked up by the projecting cow-catcher . and thrown aside, and so saved from certain death. •His injuries, however, were severe. He was taken to the hospital where it was found he had suffered a fracture of the skull and severe head injuries. The motor-lorry was completely wrecked. To-day it was reported that Suckling’s condition had improved.
