REPERTORY THEATRE
FIRST PLAY SELECTED AIEETING. OF SOCIETY. The National Repertory Theatre Society which was recently formed in Wellington has been making splendid progress towards the realisation of its ambitions—placing before the public the better class of play. Last night another enthusiastic meeting was held when Air Baldwin presided in the place of Air D. AI. Findlay, who was unavoidably absent. The rules of the society wfere endorsed, and a satisfactory report was made of the number of foundation and subscribing members. The following is now the committee: —Mr D. AI. Findlay (president), Miss Hilda Allies, Alessrs W. AI. Page. Baldwin, Facer (hon. treasurer), and Burden (hon. secretary). After a conference with the director,
Mr Leo Hu Chateau, Bernard Shaw’s play, “Pygmalion” was selected as the lirst production. The cast will be announced later. Mr William Beck, the well-known scenic artist, will be responsible for the stage settings.
