AUSTRALIAN TARIFF DUTY ON MAIZE RAISED AFRICAN TREATY ABROGATED. Bv Telegraph.—Pres* Assn. —Copyright. MELBOURNE. March 24. The House of Representatives, considering the tariff, increased the import duty on maize from Is fid. 2s 6d, and ss, to 2s 6d, 3s, and 3s 6d. The Minister of Customs, Mr H. E. Pratten explained that steps were being taken to abrogate commercial treaty with South Africa, which would be replaced, by a new reciprocal treaty. This was the outcome of the action of the South African Ministry last year in materially altering the terms of preference, which she gave Australia for benefits received under the 1906 treaty, but the change would be made in no unfriendly spirit. FLUENZOL PROPRIETARY LTD. SALES INCREASING. At the annual general meeting of the shareholders of thd Fluenzol Proprietary, Ltd., Messrs C. W. Palmer, N. F.
