CUMBERLAND’S VOYAGE. With general cargo from Glasgow, Avonmouth, Newport (Mon.), and Liverpool, the Federal Line steamer Cumberland arrived at Auckland shortly after midnight on Thursday. On her recent voyage the vessel cleared Liverpool on January 30th, and for the first tew days of her voyage encountered very stormy conditions. Heavy seas continually broke on board, flooding the decks. The steamer reached Curacao on the morning of February 14th, and, after replenishing her oil supply, continued her voyage on the same clay. Two days later she arrived at Colon, but as one of the locks was not working, the Cumberland was compelled to wait until Fobruary 18th bciore she could obtain transit throug the Panama Canal. Coming across the Pacific Ocean the steamer experienced favourable weather until after leaving Pitcairn Island, when south-westerly gales with heavy seas were encountered. These conditions continued also until arrival. On Thursday the Cumberland is to sail for Wellington, where she will continue her discharge. The Cumberland is commanded by Captain G. T. Deith, who has with him the ifollowing officers: —Chief, Mr D. Horne; second, Mr EL Hopkins; third, Mr D. Murray: fourth, Mr J. Marks; ship's surgeon. Dr. H. Creckett; wireless operator, Mr F. FINNISH BARQUE CHARTERED. A rather unusual charter was reported from Melbourne last week. The Finnish barque Favell, now in port at Melbourne, has been fixed to load a full cargo of flour from ,there for Mauritius. Some years ago small tonnage sailers were employed in carrying flour and general cargo from Australia to Mauritius, and returning to the southern States with sugar. The engagement of a big tonnage vessel like the Favell is unique, and is a record for this line of business. The Favell reached Melbourne early in the year, after a smart voyage from the Baltic, but on entering grounded near Port Phillip Heads.

BRINGING PACIFIC COAST CARGO. ,The Union Company advise that the transpacific cargo steamer Waihemo now leaves San Francisco on Wednesday for Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She is due at Napier on April 12th, and at Wellington a week later. CITY OF BATAVIA. Cabled advice has been received that the A, and A. Line steamer, City of Batavia, sailed from New York on Thursday last, March 11th, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is expected at Auckland on April 18th, and at Wellington a week later. MAUNGANUI FROM SYDNEY. Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the intercolonial Fassenger steamer Maunganui sailed rora Sydney at 4 p.m. on Friday last for Wellington, where she is due tomorrow morning. MOERAKI DUE WEDNESDAY. The Union Company advise that the passenger steamer Moeraki, which left Melbourne on Friday morning last, is due at Wellington on Wednesday, and sails the same day for Lyttelton and Dunedin, where at the latter port she withdraws from the New Zealand-Mel-bourne service. WAIMANA RADIOS. The master of the steamer Waimana has advised the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the vessel is due at Auckland on Thursday next, March 18th, from Southampton. Captain C. M. Andrews still retains command of the Waimana. • ATHENIC AT AUCKLAND. An arrival at Auckland yesterday was the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's liner Athenic from London and Southampton, Via Panama. The vessel, which has cargo for discharge at Auckland and Wellington, is due here on Sunday next. CANADIAN CHALLENGER. The Canadian Government Lino advise that the Bteamer Canadian Challenger arrived at Auckland at 3 n.m. on Saturday from Halifax with cargo for discharge at Auckland. . PORT CHALMERS FOR HOME. The C. and D. Line advise that the steamer Port Chalme_rs, which arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from Wanganui, completes her Homeward loading here and sails finally to-morrow afternoon for London, via Panama. INKULA ARRIVES. With New York cargo for discharge under the agency of the C. and D. Line, the steamer Inkula arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. She is expected to clear this port on Thursday for Lyttelton, thence Timaru, Dunedin and New Plymouth to put out the balance of her cargo. ' PORT VICTOR DUE TO-DAY. To discharge Australian hardwoods, the C. and D. Line advise that the steamer Port Victor, which left Auckland on Saturday for Wellington, is due here today ana will leave again on Wednesday for Lyttelton, thence Dunedin, to complete. She afterwards docks at Port Chalmers for cleaning and painting, and then takes the loading berth in New Zealand for, Home, sailing finally from New Zealand about the second week in April. SCHOUWEN IN PORT. - An arrival at Wellington on Saturday from Auckland- was the steamer Schouwen to discharge Canadian cargo under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company.
