PILLIEWINKIE’S FOURTH WIN LEONARD STAKES TO FUJISAN YOUNG RIDES THE DOUBLE By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received March 7, 5.0 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 7. For the hnal day oi the Victoria Racing Cluib’s meeting, the weather was cool and pleasant. There was a large attendance, and the going was good. Hawick won the Carmichael Stakes narrowly. He was ridden by an apprentice, H. Badger, and cost the Victoria Racing Club committeeman, Mr A. S. CJhirnside, £625 as a yearling. Fujisan, the top-weight, won the Leonard Stakes brilliantly* He led for the last two furlongs, and his time was better than the previous race record by a second. The first prize is £947. He is owned by Mr J. P. Arthur, and is engaged in the Doncaster Handicap. The New Zealander, Pilliewiukie, scored his fourth success of the meeting with an easy win in the King’s Plate. He led for the last five furlongs. G. Young rode the double, Fujisin and Pilliewinkie. Pilliewinkie was loudly cheered. It was Trainer J. Scobie’s sixth success at the meeting. Valbee was sixth early in the Northcote Handicap, and won narrowly. Bannock led for the last three furlongs in the Steeple, and won easily. 'lllO stakes at the Flemington meeting totalled £30,041, and of this amount Sir Samuel Hordern won £5824. • G. Young rode six winners from eight mounts at the meeting. R. J.
