PARTY TELEPHONE LINE
PARTNERS DISAGREE SEQUEL IN MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, January 26. A case of some interest to users of party telephone lines came before the Magistrate's Court at Hamilton today, when Donald Mclntosh and L. G. Osborno proceeded against 11. Livingstone, J. 11. Gore and H. T. Kent for (laniages on the grounds of inconreniem.o alleged to have been caused through the defendants’ act in severmg the lines giving their two neighbours (.the plaintiffs) communication with the outside world. The patties were farmers at Tubiknramea, about nine miles from Hamilton. Negotiations wore entered into for a party telephone lino connecting the nine neighbouring farmers to the Hamilton exchange. The party lines iverj private lines erected by the subscribers themsel/es. The plaintiffs’, objection was that they paid twice as much a-3 originally agreed upon. The case was only , partly ’heard, the defendants agreeing to re-establish tha plaintiff in connection with the main telephone system.
