TWfOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at A v a Special Meeting of the Wellington City Council, held on DECEMBER 17th, 1925. the following resolution was passWhereas it is proposed that the. Wellington City Council, the Petone Borough Council, the Lower Hutt Borough Council the Eastbourne Borough Council, the Johnsonvilla Town Board, the iJpper Hutt Town Board, the Hhtt County Council, and the Makara County Council should make similar by-laws in relation to heavy traffic, that license fees should be collected only by the Wellington City Council, and that such fees should Be apportioned amongst the abovementioned local authorities i:. proportion te their contributions to the maintenance /of the Hutt road under the "provisions of the Hutt Road Act, 1915. Now. therefore, the Wellington City Council in exercise of the powers vested in it by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, amt its amendments and particularly in exercise of the powers vested in it by section 355 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the Publio Works Act, 1908, and its amendments and particularly the Public Works Amendment Act, 1924, and in pursuance and exercise of every other authority or power enabling it in that behalf hereby makes by Special Order, tho following By-law:— The short title of this By-law is "The Wellington City Heavy Traffic By-law, 1926," and it shall be read together with and form part of the Wellington City Bylaw No. 1,1908. The object and purport of tho By-law are:— 1. To define heavy traffic 2. To provide for the licensing by the Wellington City Council of vehicles engaged in heavy traffic on any street within the City of Wellington, and the license fees to be paid in respect nf various classes of vehicles. 3. To provide that every license so issued shall extend to and be available within the districts of the Wellington City Council, the Petone Borough Council, Lower Hutt Borough Council, Eastbourne Borough Council, Johnsonville Town Board, Upper Hutt Town Board, Hutt County Council, and Makara County Council. 4. To provide that the Wellington City Council shall collect all license fees and to provide the method of distribution of such fees amongst the said local authorities. 5 To regulate ?nd control generally vehicles engaged in heavy traffic on any street within the City of Wellington. 6 To repeal Clause 794 of the Wellington City By-law, Number 1, 1908; Part 9 of the Wellington City Bylaw, Number 1, 1908; so far as it Telates to traction engines and motor wagons, and subclause (2) of Clause 6 of Part 4 of the Wellington City By-law Number 24. 1915. , 7. To repeal all the operative clauses of the Wellington City Heavy Traffic By-law, 1924, except: Sub-clause (2; of Clause 39. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Resolution will bo submitted for confirmation at a Special Meeting of the Wellington City Council to be held on THURSDAY, January 28th. 1926, at N the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Culm street. Wellington, at 4 o'clock p.m. A full copy of the said By-law is deposited at the Office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, and may be inspected there by all persons during ordinary office hours.
