VIGOROUS PROTEST IN PARIS BOURSE CLOSED FOR DAY. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, January 22. It is now clear that the financial conflict will be fought out in the Chamber of Deputies. The Finance Commission insists on its own viewpoint, and rejects M. Doumer’s arguments. The commission's graft scheme will be submitted to the Chamber on Saturday or Monday. , Two different displays of hostility to M. Donmer’s taxation proposals caused the closing of the Bourse to-day. First, the Bank Clerks’ Union brought business to a standstill by calling out its members as a protest against the increased taxation. Then the dealers, resenting the tax on payments, declined to operate. The result was that the doors .were closed. Reuter's Telegram. .(Received January >24, 6.5 p.m.) ' PARIS, January 23. The Bourse strike was a one-day affair. Work will be resumed on Monday, when the Chamber will debate the Finance Commission’s proposals regarding an increased tax on transactions.
