The high winds experienced in the district yesterday brought the telegraph lines down between Owhango and Kakahi, and communication was not fully restored until midnight. Tho wind ripped the top off a house at Oio, and there was a heavy fall of rain early last evening. ROTORUA, January 23. A tremendous storm swept Rotorua during the twenty-four hours ending on Friday. Three and a quarter inches of rain fell, but the damage was immaterial. Heavy thunder and lightning accompanied the storm.
