NEW ZEALAND’S ASSESSMENT LORDS DISMISS APPEAL. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 24, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 22. The House of Lords dismissed an appeal that is of interest to Australians and New Zealanders employed in Britain. Harry Hartland, an employee of the New Zealand Shipping Company, appealed against his income tax assessment. Counsel explained that . Hartland’s salary was £SOO, upon which the company paid £BO of income tax. The authorities, declaring that the£Bo constituted an addition to the salary, assested Hartland on £SBO.
