Somerville, ex-M.P., who was recently in Australia, described them as well-ordered citizens. Colonel Weston Jarvis argued ■ that there were no better colonists than tke Germans, and quoted Cecil Rhodes’s similar view, with the proviso that they must be under the British fiag.
