HAWKE S BAY DEFEAT Per Pres, A sene’a turn NELSON, December 27. In the Hawke Cup Hawke’s Bnf won the toss and batted, being dismissed for 34 runs (Cane 2, Brown 2, Stephenson 6, Bradburn 3, White 0. Scott 1, Pirie 4, Stevens 5, Reid 0, Rous 5, O’Connar 6), Lines took five wickets for 18 runs, and Haycock four wickets for ten. Nelson, with four wickets, scored 109 (Neale 65, Fletcher 24, Hayco ’R 8, Papps 6.) The wicket was diying anti difficult. It was the first match this season in the park. The outfield had been heavilv top-dressed and boundaries difficult to obtain. Neale hit a sixer, and made an invaluable first wicket stand with Fletcher.
