There was dull weather for the final day qf the trial match. Australia, on resuming, fared badly. After the early dismissal of Poneford and _ Ryder, Grimmett got to work, and in quick succession Andrews, Kippax, Woodfuli, and Hendry were dismissed, Grimmett’s' figures being four for 24, and the total score 129 for six wickets. But Gregory and Collins became associated, and put on 138. Gregory gave a sparkling display of forceful batting. Australia's second innings realised 296 (Ponsford 10, Woodfuli 42, Ryder 43, Andrews 2, Kippax 0, Gregory 100, Hendry 2, Collins 81, Oldfield 9 not out, Hormbrook 1, Mailey 0, extras 6). Blackie, bowling for the Rest, took four wickets for 71, Grimmett five for 91, and Macartney one for 30. The Rest won by 156 runs.
The Rest scored 380 and 298 for nine (declared), nnd Australia 226 and 296.
