GOLF ASSOCIATION

monthly Meeting, The monthly meeting of the council of the Association was held on Monday, when there were present Messrs R. Clement Kirk (chairman), J. B. MacEwan, A. D. S. Duncan, W. E. A. Gill, Captain' Conway, and Mr G. O. Sutton ,(secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr A. J. Abbott. Mr J. B. Mac Ewan was elected vicechairman of the council. Statement of finances showed a credit at the National Bank of New Zealand of ,£135 17s 3d, and at the Savings Bank of «£$U 14s 3d. The Matamata Golf Club, had previously resigned from the dissociation, asked to have its resignation annulled, and the request was unanimously agreed to, and the club's name placed on the register. The Castlecliff Golf Club (Wanganui) was elected a member of the association.

It was resolved to print and circulate this month the programmes for the professionals' tournament at Dunedin on February 17th, 18th and 19th, for which this association is giving *BISO and the Otago Golf Club .£SO in prize-money. Approval was given to the Timaru Golf Club's suggestion to hold a professionals’ two-day tournament on their links after the Otago tournament, for which the Timaru Golf Club proposes to offer JBSO in prize-money. It was reported that the decisions of the rules of golf committee of the Boyal and Ancient Club have now been reprinted Up to 1924, and it was resolved to cable Home an order on December 22ncJ for all clubs which have advised of their requirements by that date. The secretary of the Royal and Ancient advised of a recent decision to add a note to rule. 22 and 23 aw follows: —"A provisional ball may only be played under the second section of this rule before the player or his partner goes forward to search for the ball which has been played with the previous stroke **
