PALMERSTON N., December 8. The weather was fine at Woodv-llc to-day, but to-night the sky is o *.rcast, and a light rain ie falling on the Palmerston North side of the gorge. However, there is a chance of to-mor-row being fine, and if it is the course will be in excellent condition. The only scratching from the Hurdles is Pilot. Automne has arrived from Gisborne, and is to take his place "in the open sprint to-morrow. After racing at Woodville he is likely to go on to Ellerslie. Kilmiss, who is to contest the Hhck Welter, is reported to be galloping well on the tracks. Te Monanui is at the course, and will take his place in the contest for the Woodville Handicap. He is very well, but looks a trifle big, and ought to be the better for the gallop. He goes to Ellerslie after racing here. Wristlet is reported to have done a smart gallop before leaving home. J. Barry will be on Te Monanui in the big handicap. E. Keesing will ride Fool’s Paradise, and probably Roy Reed will pilot Waetea. Clarinda will be racing on her home track to-morrow, and those who have seen her complete her preparation say she is sure to run a big race. Trance has been ta'r""'. out of tho Trial Plate, and Sir Ivay is scratched from the Nursery. First Acre is on the premises, and is one of the late fancies for the Oete Handicap. ' Another late fancy for the Oete Handicap is’ the Hawera sprinter, Solfrange. ' Neither Velvet King nor No Favours will start in the Hack Welter,
