UNEXPECTED DEVELOPMENT AT WELLINGTON

It was hoped that two men would be available after tea, and that the vessel would sail at 8 p.m. When the time came to sail it was found-that a number of men who had signed on during the day were absent, so the Union Company decided to send the Maheno into the stream to wait the return of the missing men. As the vessel was ready to cast off the rest of the men jumped ashore, consequently the offioers and engineers took the Maheno into the stream, where she now lies.
