TVTY Labour-Socialist opponent, Mr Semple, for tbe purpose of securing sympathy, and therefore votes, is, at tho eleventh hour accusing me of scurrility, falsehood, vilification, misrepresentation and slander concerning him, and asserts that indeed he is obliged to seek the protection of his solicitors. He has, I believe, to-day issued broadcast, too late for me to reply, a circular to this effect. This charge X positively and indignantly deny. I have dealt only with Mr Semple's public utterances and doings, and have on no occasion introduced anything of a personal character into the contest, nor have I received a challenge of any nature from him. This unfounded accusation is a poor method of electioneering, but it may have some effect unless contradicted. W. H. FIELD. “I AM HIS FATHER.” A MESSAGE TO PROHIBITIONISTS.
