“QUO VADIS”
GREAT FILM AT DE LUXE.
The massive Theatre De Luxe is a fitting setting for so great a production as the new “Quo Vadisf” (“WhitheM goest ,thou?”) It is truly a wonderful production. There are a large number of characters, in .all 20.000. and the feature of the production is the very fine act-' ing witnessed in all the leading parts. As Nero himself, perhaps the most of all degraded creatures that ever defiled the Imperial throne,' Emil Jennings is most impressive and convincing. The brutal cruelty, the colossal egotism, the petty vanity and the wretched snivelling cowardice of the man are all portrayed in vivid and unmistakable colours. The attraction is surely one of the greatest since this popular theatre opened. There have been record houses and patrons are advisedAobook their seats or make a point of being early. A fitting prologue, enacted by wellknown amateurs, precedes the film. The special musical programme of the orchestra, under Mr L. D. Austin, is alone worth the price of admission. “THE GOLDEN BED” Cecil De Mille, the famous producer, has gone the limit m gorgeousness in “The Golden Bed,-’ the gigantic attraction to be screened at the De Luxe commencing next Friday. Rod la Rocque, Vera Reynolds, Lillian Rich, Warner Baxter, Theodore Kosloff and Julia Faye, are in the principal roles. “The Golden Bed” is an engrossing story, and the sensational and spectacular abound. Among the special scenes are the eye-filling spectacle of the novelty Candy Ball, the dazzling millionaire society wedding, the thrilling and beautiful scenes in the snow-topped alps, the “Golden Bed” itsolf around which revolves the story of the luxury-drunk society siren, who attracts many lovers and changes many lives. The supporting programme arranged will also he tremendous with a special musical programme by the Orchestra de Luxe. A matinee will be held on Saturday at- 2.30. The box' plans are now open at the Bristol Piano Co., Aitken’s Book Arcade, or ring theatre ‘phene 23-080.
