CYCLE ROAD RACE

INTERESTING CONTEST TOMORROW WEEK Permission for the Wellington A.A* Club to hold a 3S mile cycle road race (Petone to Akatarawu and back) has been granted by the Wellington Centre. The event is to take place on Saturday week and entries will be received up to Wednesday next. Apart from this race there will be a programme of athletics at the Petone Recreation Ground, the club having decided to run the following events: 100 yards ladies’ handicap, 100 yards open, handicap, three mile handicap, boys’ walk, and motor-tyre race for boys. The Wellington Club proposes to send X cyclist to compete in the New Zealand Amateur Championship Road Race (50 miles) at Gisborne, provided that the performance of the club's first representative to finish in the race on the 17th inst. is satisfactory enough. For the club’s road race H prizes are being awarded, seven being for places at the finish and the reminder for special classes. The rider making fastest time will be awarded a gold medal and a blue riband. The .-tart ami finish of the race will be at the Petone Recreation Ground.
