LANDING OF CAPTAIN COOK ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED. i'er Press Association GISBORNE, October ? The anniversary of Captain Cook’ landing in Poverty Bay was celebrate this afternoon by wreaths being laid at the foot of the memorial to Captain: Cook on Haiti Beach. A message was received from tb Royal Colonial Institute. London, stating: “May the work and example a this great pioneer ever be kept in tin forefront, and thus be an unfailins inspiration to all sons and daughters of our great Empire. Addresses were delivered by Mr J. R. Kirk, Sir James Carroll, and oth ers.
