LETTERS

Dear Fairiel, This -letter is from Mary. I am four years old and I have twin sisters and they are seven months old. Love from Mary. Mary McQueen, Te Wera. (Write often, 'ittle four-years 1 . . * we love to know you.)

Dear Fairiel, I am sorry for making’ such a fuss about my last letter, but I’ve composed the poem anyhow, so what matter? The, poem is called “The Coming of Spring, ,T and I hope it will be satisfactory. But I can assure you that I made it up, for 1 couldn’t bear to steal someone else’s hard work.

The violets and forget-me-nots are out in my garden, and everything is coming on well. Did I tell you we had a puppy? No, of course not. We call him “Ben Rae” and a scamp he is, too. Every time I go outside the door Ben jumps around me as if he hadn’t seen me ■for a week. . . sometimes I have to growl at him, for he almost trips me up. I am glad Spring is just about here, only the horrid Winter is so greedy, it’s trying to stay on always. Spring will fight hard though, and soon, will be in her glory. I think I had uetter write out the poem and go to bed as it is ten o’clock.

Your loving elf, Keith. Keith Hutcheson, Lower Hutt.

(Thank you for the poem, Keith. . . you’ve tried hard and we like it very much, although I’m afraid there is not room for it this week. You’ll have to watch out. “Ben Rae” must be great fun to play with I think.)

Dear Fairiel. , I would have written to you before, only daddy forgot to bring your paper home to me. I have told him not to forget. . ~ I have painted the picture as well as I can, and have done the puzzle- as well. lam going to make that doll’s hospital in the Fairy Ring, and I will tell you what it is like in my next week’s letter. My brother is trying to make one too, but has done something wrong ■end blames me for doing it, out he is only 8 and will soon be 9 on the 27tn of November. Frcm your loving Fairy, Esina. Esma Jacobson, Wadestown.

(So glad you like doing the things in our ring, ten-years. Perhaps you could help your young brother to fix it, could you?)
