DEFICIT LAST YEAR INDUSTRIES SHOW PROFITS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright SYDNEY. September 24. The Auditor-General reports that tho State deficiency for the year ended June 30th last was £756,450, making an accumulated deficiency, of £3,430,8157 The main cause of tho year’s deficiency was the non-collection of a portion of the income tax. The report shows that State enterprises, with the exception of railways and tramways, made substantial profits. The State brickworks closed the year with a profit of £30,148, the greatest in tho life of the undertaking. The State metal quarries made a profit of £21.205. The balance-sheet of the State Monier pipe and reinforced concrete works showed a surplus of £20,241.

The railways and tramways deficit was £69,142.
