HOSPITAL RADIUM PLANT
EMANATIONS READY. At the meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board yesterday the medical superintendent. Dr. D. M. Wilson, reported that the radium emanation plant, which Dr. Marsden had erected, had now been tried out and was working satisfactorily. The hospital was now in a position to supply the emanation to hospitals at a distance. The radium element had been in use for over two months, and already a considerable number of cases had been treated from other hospital districts as well as their own.
The X-ray deep therapy plant had also been available for over a month ipast, and is working satisfactorily. With the instalment of the new diagnostic outfit, this department was now very complete and had been brought up to the most modern standard. Owing to the increase of work demanded from the department, it was obvious that the hospital required a wholetime medical officer in charge, and steps should early he taken to procure a suitable officer The report was received.
