MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

DEATH OF A WOMAN A DELAYED CASE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 24. As a sequel to an accident on Karangahapa road on May 17th, 1924, when Mrs Kate Dowding was knocked down by a motor-car and died the same evening the driver of the car,* a youth aged 17 years, whose name was suppressed, was charged to-day with manslaughter. The case had been delayed owing to the fact that shortly after the accident the accused went to Australia, and only recently returned. He was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Charges of driving a ear without a license, failing to stop and give his name and address, and negligent driving were adjourned until after the Supreme Court trial.
