Negotiations with a view to the fusion of alt the important dyeworks in Germany have led to a provisional result which will shortly be submitted to the boards of the companies concerned, including the Baden Aniline, the Berlin Aniline, the Hoechst, and Eiberfeld Dyeworks. The final decision will rest with the general meetings of the companies in the spring. Sheep and fat cattle 6old at last week's rates to-day at Burnside. Store cattle sold well, and pigs were slightly down. Sheep—An entry of 2238 head. The quality was very fair, but not equal to that of last week's entry. There were a few prime heavy wethers, and some nice ewes, together with a number of unfinished animals. Prices were unchanged. Extra prime heavy wethers'made from 52s to 565; prime, 41s to 44s 9d; lighter, 39s to 40s 6d; one ewe brought 63s 6d; prime heavy ewes made from 42s to 48s; prime 30s 9d to 365. The price of mutton per lb was: Prime light wethers 7id, extra heavy 6sd to 7d, medium quality 6sd; prime ewes 6d; others sd. * Lambs *. The four lambs that were forward sold at last week's rates

Fat cattle: A yarding of 250 bead. The supply of quality bullocks was very fair, the entry including some good sorts of cows, but a number of steers lacked finish. The demand opened on medium quality, and prices were equal to those of last week. Best bullocks brought up to .£29 2s 6d; prime heavy .£2O to .£24; lighter -215 to ,£l7; heifers made up to .£l6 7s 6d. Extra prime beef made 62s 6(i per 1001 b, light and plain 58s to 60s; prime heifers 50s. and others from 38s to 45 s.

Store cattle: An entry of from 150 to 200 head of medium quality. There was a fair number of pens of moderate steers, and the best were cows and young sorts. There was a good demand. Tnree-year-old steers made from £8 5s to £8 15s; medium U-yenr steers up to £5; other sorts sold well. Pigs? There were 144 fats and 80 slips.
