NOT GUILTY
GEORGE EDWARDS DISCHARGED ACQUITTED ON THEFT CHARGE. The retrial of George Edwards, former postmaster at Lyall Bay, on a charge of theft as a servant of the sum of £3B, was heard before His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Bobert Stout) and a jury of twelve yesterday. Mr P. ». K. Macassey appeared for the Crown, and Mr W. Perry for the accused. At the last session of the Supreme Court in May the jury disagreed when asked to decide on their verdict, and a new trial was applied for and granted. Yesterday similar evidence to that on the previous hearing wag called, and after a retirement of four hours the jury returned a verdict of not
