FATAL ACCIDENT

HEAD CRUSHED BY LOG. GREYMOUTH, July 27 Augustus Quinn, 58 years of age, a well-known Ikamatua resident, was killed this afternoon at Hukarere. He was working with four others jacking logs into a wagon when one big jack gave way and a log rolled back upon Quinn’s head, which was crushed 'between it ; and a lower log. Quinn stood up, and then dropped dead. Deceased was one of the original vendors of the Millerton Gold Mining Syndicate.'
