POSITION AT ROTORUA
DECREASE IN REVENUE. Although the tourist traffic to Roto-' rua has increased largely since the war, the revenue obtained from the baths and games has decreased. During the discussion which followed when the report on the Tourist and Health Resorts was presented By the Minister in charge (Hon. W. ' Nonworth'). Mr F. F. Hockly (Rotorua), said that he thought the decrease was largely due to the increase in the charge for baths and games, and he suggested to the Minister that if the tariff wero revised and lowered it would be followed by an increase. 1 The Minister in charge (Hon. W. Nosworthy) said that probably the hath fees at Rotorua would he revised in two or three months’ time. The Government had been compelled to raise them at the slump period l ; otherwise the establishment would have been run at a dead loss. It should he recognised that unless such eervioes were provided free tliev ought to make both" ends moot. Residents could obtain yearly tickets for manv of the baths at a much reduced rate.
