Some very elaborate preparations have been made for this function, and a most enjoyable night may be looked, for. The Spinsters’ and Bachelors’ Ball was held in the Momorial Hall at Pirinoa lately. It was a decided success considering the inclement weather. A large number attended from Featberstou. The-hall was tastefully decorated. The committee, comprising Mesdames Latham, Mclntosh. The supper arrangements—always a pleasing feature at functions of this kind et Pinioa—were hard to excel, and-all expressed themselves highly pleased with the way the arrangements were carried out. The flooded state of the roads militated against a bumper house, and if the prevailing conditions had been normal there would have been a record attendance. It was stated that about a hundred people were unable to get through owing to the floods. Miss ivl. McDougall (dressed in black taffeta trimmed With cream laoe) acted as hostess, and Mr D. f 3 Sutherland, jnr., as host.
