NEW ZEALAND COMMITTEE MEETS REFEREES’ HAND-BOOK A meeting of the management committee of ahe N.Z. Rugby Football Union wao held last night, when Air S. S. Dean presided. Other members present were: Messrs A. C. lvitto, E. McKenzie, T. A. Fletcher, W. Hornig, E. Wylie, H. S. Leitch, C. Mullany, \V. T. Rarata (hon. member), and Id. E. Combs (secretary). “The sooner the Referees’ Association get into their heads that they are not the controlling body of football, the better,” said Mr Dean, when commenting on a rule book published by the association. Exception was taken to a list of reminders and foreword published in the hook, and it was decided to call the attention of the Referees’ Association to the matter. The secretary of the Manawatu Rugby Football Union advised that the ■Manawatu and Horowhemia Unions had carried unanimously the amalgamation agreement, mid are 110 W conferring on the constitution of the new union. NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR A report of the conference between tin New South Males Union and Alcssrs E. AlcKenzie and J. Donald was road at the meeting. It stated that the New South Wales team to tour New Zealand would bo composed of 29 players, a manager, and a masseur. The New South Wales Union also protested against the playing of the test at the end of the tour, and pointed out that the New Zealand Union had, during their English tour, asked that the tests be played in the middle of the programme. Afr E. AlcKenzie moved that the request for the 29 players be adopted Ho said that in the past teams had often had to send for reinforcements. Air lvitto: I think we should take 20 per rent, off the profits. Afr McKenzie: I don’t think we should do that, as they need all the Help they can get. Air Hornig: Twenty-nine players are too many. Air Dean: The agreement is twentysix. Mr Hornig: I move an amendment that they be allowed twenty-eigbt. The amendment was lost by five to four, and the motion was lost by the same number of rotes. Air Denn: Tim agreement of twentysix players now stands. Air AlcKenzie: A'on will have trouble. Air Kitto: Twenty-six players ought to he able to play ten matches. The sum of £440 was allocated to the furtherance of school football.
