By’the death of Mr A. E. Whyte, racing loses;, a* true friend. At a special meeting, of the committee of • the Wellington Racing Club, held yesterday morning, the following resolution was passed unanimously*, all members standing:—“That the committee of the,.Wellington'• Racing'Club- places on record its deep regret at the death oi the club's ;late secretary, Mr A. E Whyte., -and. the pliub's high appreciation pf .the great and able services. ”endered to It over a period of 23 years; and. further, that the president be* requested to convey the sincere sympathy of - the club, its committee, and members fo Mrs Why! o an d her family, *u their great bereavement/' .lit was further decided to-abandon tho club's annual ball, which was to have been held in the Town Hall on Thursday. evening, next.
