In the House of Representatir es, Dr. Earle Page, the Commonwealth Treasurer, announced that the surplus for the past financial year was £4.675,473. The receipts for the year amounted to £03,800,178 and the expenditure to £66,815,853, leaving the excess of receipts over revenue at £1,984,825. This, with the surplus from the previous year, made up the total surplus. Almost all the estimates.of expected revenue were exceeded. The postal revenue for the Commonwealth for the year ended June 30th, was £10,045,000, an increase of £289,000 over that of the previous year. Stamps showed a decrease of £28,000, as a result of the reduction of. letter postage from 2d to lfd. HOBART, July 3. The Tasmanian revenue for the past year was £2,762,000 an increase of £314,000. It is estimated that there will be a surplus of £40,000. BRISBANE, July 3, The revenue returns for the financial year ended June 30th showed a surplus of £16,967,
