NO CHANGE IN CHINA
BLUEJACKETS DISPERSE MOB STRIKES CONTINUE. Reuter's Telegram. (Received Julv 3, 8.5 p.m.) , PEKING, July 3. A message fram Swatow says that armed parties twice landed from the cruiser Bluebell. At first they drove off agitators who were seeking to board British ships in the harbour, and later they dispersed a mob attacking foreign hotels. There were no casualties. , The strike position generally is unchanged. The situation is becoming quieter, and the number of volunteers is being reduced. The head Chinese foreman at the Shanghai waterworks was* shot dead in the street. At' Ningpo there were demonstrations, but no riots. Martial law has been declared at Chingking, and the Japanese residents have left the native city for the Japanese concession.
