THE WOMAN WHO HATES WOMEN
Everv woman has met the other woman who professes to “hate” her own sex. She boasts of the fact as if it were something to be proud of that she can only “get on” with men. You may advance what arguments you please as to feminine loyalty, sympathy in time of trouble, and delicacy of understanding. The feminine woman-hater will not listen. She tells vou that only men are capable of being “pals.” AVID OF FLATTERY As a rule the type of woman who detests her own sex is avid of flattery from the other sex. Men fling compliments at a woman as part of the small change of conversation; yet such a wo-
man would rather have these barren husks than the occasional wheat of a woman’s sincere compliments. The pity of it is. of course, that the men whose attentions she 60 prizes will withdraw them when she is past the age of cheap flattery and sex allure. And while other women rejoice in feminine friendships that keep them young and alive and vital, the woman who “cannot stand women” is left lamenting in the lonely autumn of her days. Be assured that it is well worth while to cultivate one i.r two women friends in the heyday of one’s successful youth, for you never know when a woman’s friendship may be your salvation.
