Frank R. Adam's, one of America's best known magazine writers, will be responsible for Douglas Mac Lean's story j material when the comedy star begins production work on features for Paramount. He has for years been a regular contributpr of light fiction to "The Cosmopolitan Magazine." "Collier's Photoplay/' and other periodicals with millions of readers. He lias also written several novels and plays, including "The Time, the Place and the Girl." A number of Adam's stories have been picturisod with excellent results. He recently wrote "Stage Struck/' in which Gloria Swmwon will star. An imporant purchase was completed last week when 7ane Grey handed Jesse t i first vice-president of Famous Lasky Corporation, a signed contract for the film rights to five of his most successful books. They are" The Up Trail/' "The Man of the Forest," "Desert Gold," "The Desert of Wheat/' and "The Mysterious Rider/' All will be produced with the same fidelity that has marked Zane Grey's pictures during his long association with Paramount. Wetskij who purchased "Men,” "Lily of the Dust/' with Pola Negri, is said 1 to be a gorgeous, magnificent, production featunng Adolph Menjou, Frances Howard and Ricardo Cortez —a satirical comedy with a delicate romance of a girl-snob who wants to be regular and doesn't know how, who eventually throws over royalty for the man she loves. Paramount Week will be celebrated throughout New Zealand during the week of August 81st to September sth. This is a season which has been instituted by Paramount pictures throughout the World with the object of stimulating the moving picture business generally. It is Era movement which has been taken up wholeheartedly by exhibitors in New Zealand, and this year will be the most - important event in the history of thisr country of the moving picture. Special inducements are being offered! to exhibitors to participate in the campaign. Richard Dix joyously upholds every promise which has hailed him as the greatest romantic comedian of the screen.
