Pakeha at Lyttelton. Corriedale sheep are algo being shipped at Lyttelton, and Romneys at Bluff, from which port the Pakeha is due to sail on July Bth for Monte Video. From Uruguay the stock will bp transhipped to Buencs Aires, where, 4 n the capital city of the great Argentine Republic they will be on exhibition during, the period ot the Argentine Rural Society’s annual show at Palermo. This' year’s exhibition commences on August 14th in order to coincide with the Prince oi Wales' visit to thp country. carry more wool and pt a hotter* quality than most of the English bred Lincolns, while a compact smaller carcase is always more saleable at a higher price per pound than a big heavy one.” The total consignment going forward on this occasion comprises 32 Romney rams, 44 Romney ewes, 25 Lincoln rains, and 8 Corriedale rams. One of these cows is stated to be a c to snow in any company, and the other is the fifst cojv of any breed to be sent to South ~ America ivhich can claim to have a certificated production of 2000 gallon* or over of milk in a year. Eight of the Romnev rams were bred by Mr Q. Donald. Featherston: and U l:y Mr J. n't. Hewitt, Mangamaire. Fahiatua. from whom 20 of the ewes were also secured. The latter are in lamb to the Royal Champion ra? cf last year. Some of the inspectors appointed hy the societies interested to tho sheep fpr export, have stated that they are the best sheep that have'vet been selected for export from New Zealand, and this opinion was upheld yesterday by a number cf prominent breeders who were present in Wellington to sec the Wairarapa sheep psaensbled for shipment. Ltd., who have done a great deal in extend overseas markets for New Zealand stock, were agfdn responsible for the joint shipment. A proportion of the sheep were bought at the annual auction sales in the autumn, and the balance were selected by Mr C. E. Robertson. stud stock exoert for the firms named. An interesting point in reference to the shipment is that all of the Lincoln rheen were drawn from YVairavapa flocks Formerly the South Island almost ertirclv supplied the South American market with this breed or sheep.
